Colleagues,
On October 13, ConnectED hosted two visitors from Japan who were eager to learn more about Linked Learning and how districts throughout California have implemented college and career pathways. Mr. Norihiro Miyako from the National Institute of Educational Policy Research and Mr. Takao Mimura, Professor in the Graduate School of Teacher Education at Waseda University, were particularly interested in the commitment to both college and career readiness.
In Japan, the high school focus remains overwhelmingly academic, with very little attention to career and technical education or emphasis on real-world application in academic subjects. They are looking forward to returning to California in the spring to attend the Linked Learning Alliance Convening and to visit schools that have embraced college and career pathways.
