Experience a College and Career Pathways approach in action!
What inspires educators and leaders to think differently about high school?
We believe, as do our partners, experiencing the College and Career Pathways approach in action, is deeply inspirational in driving educator learning and innovation. On March 28-30, 2023, North Kansas City Schools’ Pathways, in partnership with ConnectED, opened their doors to educators across the country who are interested in learning more about how to effectively design and implement a systems-based approach to college and career pathways. Participants attending an Experiential Site Visit often take what they see and apply it to their own context, creating systems of college and career pathways that meet their local students’ needs.
For instance, our partners in New Mexico, who have attended several Experiential Site Visits, now want to ensure as they do their pathway work, they are building out the academy structure based on what they saw while visiting Clairemont High School in San Diego. They experienced it instruction to be project based, as they saw at Kearny High School, and they want it all to lead to senior exhibitions and student defenses of learning like they experienced at Granite Hills High School in Porterville, California.
The North Kansas City School District shared with us how they have deftly implemented college and career pathways across several layers of their community. This has enabled them to make extraordinary progress in their work.
What attendees are saying:
“Great all around. Very informative with all staff participants at all the schools.”
“It was AMAZING!!!!”
“Thank you all for such an amazing experience and you all should be so very PROUD of your students! They had so much PRIDE and Joy.”
“Thanks for this amazing opportunity to learn more about pathways.”
We encourage interested districts to bring a team of individuals to an Experiential Site Visit. Our next visit will be in the Fall 2023. For information click here to receive a notice when the dates become available.

Reflecting on What’s the “Right” Answer?
My wife and I alternate Sunday afternoons with our two grandchildren. One Sunday, Marissa age 8, visits with us. The next Sunday, Tyler age 4 is here. We visit, play games, build stuff, do puzzles, cook, do goofy things, and just enjoy each other. We’re so pleased that they each fight over whose turn it […]

Grateful For Our Teachers
Colleagues, A week ago, my wife was sitting quietly on the back porch of her daughter’s duplex. There is a high school just down the street. She could hear the celebratory sounds of graduation, and she began to cry. In a normal year, these would have been tears of joy, but this night she could […]

Notes from the Field – Challenger Middle School
At ConnectED we recognize that there is a well-documented and persistent relationship between success in 9thgrade mathematics, Algebra I or equivalent, and success accessing and persisting in post-secondary learning. Meaning also that those students who struggle in Algebra I are less likely to graduate high school, less likely to enter post-secondary learning, and less likely […]
